Everything is not random.
There is order in much of our world that is difficult to explain and certainly not without argument.
The building blocks of matter and life, such as protons, neutrons, and electrons that make up elemental atoms, which in turn make up molecules, all seem to have order.
It was discovered in the Western world over three hundred years ago that even photons, particles of light, show order.
Without this type of order in the universe, how can we explain the development of galaxies, solar systems, planets, and life?
The ancient Chinese, over the course of thousands of years, sought out to understand correlations between their understanding of the flow of energy, or Chi, and their surroundings.
Could Chi be harnessed, diverted, and deflected in much the same way that metal or magnetic objects could with magnetic energy?
Their findings from generations of experimentation leaves us with some wonderful principles that we call Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway).
I would like to get out of the way that Feng Shui is not a religion, though it can be compatible with nearly all religions.
It does not explain how energy was created nor why it flows the way it does.
In fact, most cultures and religions in the ancient and modern world have words that describe this energy (China: qi or chi; Ancient Egypt: ka; Japan: ki; India: shakti or prana; Ancient Greece: pneuma; Native Americans: great spirit; Hawaii: ha or mana; Christians: holy spirit).
Feng Shui mostly explains how this energy affects our surroundings, lives, businesses, and how we can harness it to maximize its benefits.
This is no different than opening two windows in your home to get a cross-breeze.
There are multiple schools of Feng Shui, just as there are multiple routes you can take on a road map to get to the same destination. It is important, however, not to get confused by relying on more than one sect of Feng Shui to get to the life you want to have.
The particular school of Feng Shui that is practiced by Ms. Feng Shui and is talked about on this web site and her blog is called Black Hat Feng Shui.
Black Hat Feng Shui is over 4,000 years old and originated in Tibet before making its way through China and eventually becoming the most widely-practiced school of Feng Shui in the United States. It adheres to many of the traditional principles of Feng Shui while being surprisingly easy to follow and does not require an annual redirection of the property or other impractical or cost-prohibitive methods.
