Feng Shui for the New Year

Happy New Year!

Here are few simple tips for bringing some wonderful New Year’s energy into your home and keep that energy alive throughout the year.

Start by cleaning under carpets and rugs on a regular basis, as this is where dust accumulates easily and energy can stagnate.

Give the underside of your bed a good vacuum to clear the space you sleep on. If you or your partner is pregnant or trying to get pregnant, however, be very ginger with cleaning under the bed until the baby is born. If this is the case, just a light dusting should do. Once the baby is born, make sure you give it a good vacuuming.

Consider repainting your home every two or three years. If it’s a rental, then give a good dusting and hose off the walls with clean water.

Take care of necessary minor renovations and issues when they occur. Don’t just put them off with a plan to take care of them later. Often, such projects end up getting put off until they fester and become major issues resulting in greater time and expense to fix at a later date.

Open your doors and windows on a regular basis to let the sunshine and fresh Yang, or positive energy, into your house. While you’re at it, make sure all of the doors are in good working order and make sure to grease the joints and hinges if they are making any noise or rub against each other wrong. Failing to do so may cause joint problems for someone in your family or can prevent that Yang energy from coming in smoothly.

When your house or apartment building gets run down, its energy begins to fade. That’s why most successful department stores and hotels are well-maintained and updated by their owners and property managers on a regular basis. They understand the need to keep the energy of their multi-million dollar properties alive and moving. So, try to do the same for your own home. Make it inviting. Make it a home you would want to move into again if you had to do it all over again.
